“Command the Past, Forge the Future in Storm Warfare: The Next-Gen Collectible Card Game.”
TLDR:
Engaging animations, sounds and voice acting
Intuitive gameplay for those experienced in the genre
Enough small tweaks to make it unique
Plenty of decks built for depth of strategy
Some decks feel lackluster
How to play
Open Beta
Playable on PC
Game Loop
The format will be familiar to those experienced in the TCG genre
Before battling you need to pick your commander
Each commander has its own special, such as adding a +2 attack to a tank, they also fall into one of the 5 types
Next you need to construct your deck
You have different types of cards, units, events, and heroes.
The unit cards have defense, attack, and sometimes a special
These specials proc at different points in the game, ranging from attacking on deployment through to healing the commander on taking damage.
You then have event cards, these can attack, apply buffs or debuffs
Finally you have your hero cards - which have a wide range of specials but are placed on the board like a unit.
The five types are aircraft, infantry, navy, support and tank
They are also split across different forces, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Japan, The Soviet Union.
Now that you have your commander and deck, you can launch a pvp 1v1 battle.
The battle takes place on a board, split in half with each player placing cards in their half
The commander has their health shown
Your aim is to kill the enemy commander
This is achieved by strategic use of your cards
Each turn the amount of command points you have increases.
Each card requires command points to be played.
You also draw an extra card each turn.
Outside of the battles the game also sets missions to complete, these encourage you to explore more of the game, rather than settling for one deck.
Game feel
Starting there are plenty of pre-built decks to choose from, making it far more accessible than requiring you to make one from scratch
Whilst the layout of the boards doesn’t change, the themes do and with their dynamic animations, it makes it a lot more engaging than playing on a flat board
Playing each card comes with an animation and voice-over, both of which are high quality.
When attacking you also see the opponent’s cards “react”, this feedback makes it feel more like a battle
The variety of cards and commanders gives you plenty of depth to strategize with
I did find that some pre-built decks felt a little lackluster
Rating
Think it makes a great addition to the genre
The depth of cards and commanders gives you plenty to play with
The theming and execution are great, and I can see it playing well with history buffs
Some of the decks are a little weak, but that’s a common challenge for all TCGS
Overall I’d recommend it, and could see it becoming some people’s full personality.
Web3 integration
Free mint coming Jan 5th
Incubated with Seedify with IDO coming Jan 8th/9th

Mojo Melee

“Redefining strategy multiplayer pvp autochess battlers”
TLDR:
Very accessible
Easy to pick up
Pleasing animations and graphics
Moderate strategic depth
How to play
Free to play
Available on PC and mobile
Game Loop
Before entering the battle you need to select your team
Each team requires a mojo
These are your team captains and come with a variety of types
You then select 4 units and 2 spell stones
The units have a variety of stats including, health, armor, attack, attack range etc
The spell stones are attacks, buffs, or debuffs
All have a gold cost
Once your deck is set you can choose your battle
You have an option of duel or melee
Duel is a simple 1v1 for the best of 3 rounds, Melee is a round-robin tournament for 8v8 all-out brawl
In battle, the board is split in half, and you place units on your half
Your half of the board is a 4 by 8 grid
You start with 10 gold and draw 3 options from your team pool
If you place multiple of the same unit/spell it levels up, increasing its stats and abilities
If you don’t like your options you can pay gold to re roll
After selecting your units and positioning, the troops auto-battle.
Over time their special meter fills up until they unleash it on the map
This loop repeats until one player has won 3 rounds
Between each round, you are also shown “ghosts” of where the opponent troops used to be
Outside the game loop, the game employs battle passes and XP to unlock rewards in-game
Game feel
As you only start with a few units, it is simple enough to pick your first team
Progressing through the battle pass you unlock chests containing currencies and units, this adds the level of strategy required to build your team
As your team is only small and there isn’t synergy, as seen in other games, the strategic depth does lean more toward the casual side
The graphics and animations are engaging both in the browser and on mobile
The path of finding an AI for the units seems to do well, and I’ve not had any moments where I was upset with the movement
The duels are relatively quick, making for bite-sized gameplay
With the melees offering longer tournaments for a more intense game session
The variety of battle passes and ranks provides a reason to keep playing to level up your team
As you collect in the game you can also upgrade the units that you already have
I did prefer playing it on mobile
If you don’t find any players you are matched with a bot, so you can always play a game
Rating
Easy to pick up
More casual strategic depth
Nice graphics and animations
More bot games than I’d like
Would recommend it with the caveat that it isn’t a sweaty auto-chess game
Web3 integration
The characters come with an NFT version available on the Polygon blockchain.

What’s on the timeline
2023

This year I have turbocharged the amount of content I am putting out. Every strand came from me taking an interest in it rather than having a distinct plan. This style has been fun but as WYG grows I need to be a bit more deliberate about things. The aim will always stay “introducing new games by any means necessary”.
Thanks for all the support throughout the year. It still amazes me how much has changed since a year ago.
I hope you all have a lovely holiday and touch some grass, thank you.
